Level Three Working with Wigs by Chelsea Kerr

January 23 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm MST

Chelsea is a master of achieving almost any color and look for her clients! Due to many years of professional development and experience, Chelsea is an expert in coloring and creating different wig silhouettes. Dying is one of the most difficult processes with wigs. This workshop has been developed to walk our students through each step of how to dye a wig, what materials to use, what tools are needed and how to have a long-lasting successful color while still keeping your space safe and tidy. This workshop will also go over cutting and sewing wigs.

Chelsea is a professional stylist in Edmonton and wig technician working theatre and film. Chelsea’s specialty is building and styling for her Drag King and Queen clients.

This workshop is primarily Chelsea demonstrating all the steps with some hands-on experience for our students. This workshop will cover:

  • Learn how and where to cut wig caps to prepare for sewing
  • Learn how to create extra volume by stacking and sewing wigs
  • Discuss sourcing wig dyes, tools and how to safety use them.
  • Demonstration of dying a wig: Chelsea will dye a wig going through each step from start to finish.
  • Discuss caring for your dyed wig
  • Discuss styling dyed wigs

All skill levels are welcome. Students are asked to bring a notebook and pen and please wear your crafting clothing due to dye being used in this workshop. Theatre Garage offers a 10% discount to any wig or wig supply the day of workshop. This workshop is $45 and is 2.5 hours.

Be sure to book early! Our workshops are taught in small groups. Each workshop has a minimum amount of students needed. If workshop does not meet that minimum by 72 hours before scheduled start the workshop will be cancelled or rescheduled. For all our polices please visit https://www.theatregarage.ca/
