SalesA lover of all things makeup, costume, and music related, Brandy Bignell is the newest member to our team! Brandy grew up surrounded by nature and farm life just outside of Spruce Grove. A primarily self-taught ARCT level pianist, Brandy studied and trained as a concert pianist at Concordia University College of Alberta. She then attended the University of Alberta where her studies focused primarily on Classics, East Asian Cultural Studies and Japanese. After deciding to take a break from the University scene, she received her formal education in makeup artistry through the Alberta Academy of Aesthetics and is now a Certified Makeup Artist. Brandy’s geeky and eccentric personality combined with her love of cosplaying led her to teaching herself how to sew and craft costumes as well as further her interest in special fx makeup and makeup artistry. She’s cosplayed at many conventions and has even dabbled in competition. For cosplay, she plans to craft more intense pieces and travel to bigger conventions in the near future. Brandy’s future goals are to work primarily in makeup and freelancing as well as to further her formal education in: special fx makeup, hair/wig styling and costuming. While her hobbies and work are one in the same, she enjoys: sewing, drawing/painting, hiking and camping, figure skating and horse riding. She also has two cats, which are her fur-babies (their names are Noodle and Milo). Did we mention she’s a bit of a crazy cat lady? Check out her instagram @makeupanimus .
Apprentice Stitcher, SalesMandy graduated from Grant MacEwan’s Theatre Production program in the spring of 2017. Growing up in a small town, where the only theatre productions are performed at the high school, she had no idea what she was in for when she moved to Edmonton to originally study for a BSc. She was introduced into the cosplay scene and she’s been hooked on costumes ever since. Though her program of study didn’t feel quite right, she missed the theatre. After two years of study she couldn’t fight it anymore. Theatre Production is where her love of costumes and everything behind the scenes combined. She hopes to one day further her education in SFX make up and wig making. Mandy can’t wait to turn you into the character of your dreams!

Owner / Head of Costume
780 498 6208Christy has always wanted to be a costumer, but growing up in a small town with no one to sew with at home didn't provide many opportunities for this budding costumer. It was not until High School that Christy found her first costuming job at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin as their on-site costumer for staff and volunteers. Christy furthered her studies by attending the Red Deer College Costume Cutting and Construction; receiving her diploma in 2003. Christy has worked as a stitcher and cutter in local films and theatres and was the Assistant Head of Wardrobe Running for The Citadel Theatre from 2007-2010. Though the local costume industry kept Christy very busy, Theatre Garage began to demand her full attention. Christy has focused her efforts to the shop since 2010. Theatre Garage is pleased to construct the Wardrobe for Freewill Shakespeare festival for it's second year this spring with Christy as the Head of the department. There is nothing in the world Christy would rather be doing then working in wardrobe and is extremely grateful to do what she loves for a living every day.
